Spend a lot of time online?  Know how to get the most out of any website you come across?  Completely at home talking yourself through a problem?

If you answered yes then testing web pages might be right up your alley.  And you can make a little extra money as well.

What’s not to like?

Well, that’s what this review is for. We are going to find out how to get paid for testing websites with Userlytics. Userlytics is completely above board and a great way to earn a little extra spending cash.

But there are some serious drawbacks with the program and some severe pitfalls if you are trying to review web pages as a way to earn a full-time income.

What is UserLytics?

Userlytics is a remote website testing service.  Userlytics clients contract out the testing of their websites to Userlytics and Userlytics, in turn, pick from their pool of applicants to review the websites.

It gives the client a real-world look at their web site’s functionality and any issues that may arise.

The clients of Userlytics are some of the biggest companies in the world.  Google, the NFL, and Dunkin Donuts are just some of the clients that have used Userlytics for their website testing needs.

This is not some fly by night program that you sometimes find online.

This type of focused testing gives the clients a look at how people interact with their website and the underlying systems.

The best part is the tester just has to do what they would normally do, they don’t need extensive knowledge of coding or background tasks used in website development.

This opens the door for just about anyone to test websites through UserLytics and earn some money for doing so.

With this review, we are going to try and find out if this program is worth your time.  Whether or not you can make sufficient income with Userlytics or is it more of a side-hustle to get a few extra bucks a month.

How does Userlytics Work?

So how does it work?  Userlytics use their proprietary recording system for all of their tests and some website tests require a webcam as well.

The tester is assigned a set of tasks to perform when they received a website to test.

On average the tests last between 20 and 40 minutes, although some take even less and rarely does a test go as high as 40 minutes.

20 Minutes is a good average.  Testers are paid 10 per test, which is a nice chunk of change for 20 minutes of work.

However.

This is where the problems arise.  There are simply not enough tests to go around.  You will be passed over for tests because you don’t fit into the demographics the client is looking for.

So it is a real possibility that you may only get one test a week.  Sometimes even less.

Is it worth doing that one test? Probably.  10 dollars is 10 dollars.  But this is in no way a reliable source of income.

Which is a real shame because it is an interesting job and a pretty fun one once you get the hang of it.  In the end, it is just a way to pocket a quick tenner for a little bit of work.

These tasks range from setting up an account to finding information on the page and then relaying the experience to the Userlytics Recorder in real-time.

Testers talk their way through the test out load and record their thoughts as they try and complete the tasks.

This gives clients a really great look at what the testers or regular users are thinking when they are trying to use their website.

Add in the webcam for some of the tests and it gives the client an incredible amount of relevant information about their website and what difficulties or issues are most prevalent.

You can see the system in action in the video below.  The overall testing software is very easy to use.

The tricky part is getting yourself to speak out loud while testing the websites.  You get the hang of it pretty quickly but the first time is a little awkward.

Pros

  • Easy to understand Software
  • Robust Userlytics Recorder make testing a breeze
  • $10 Dollars per test is a good amount
  • Tests only take about 20 minutes

Cons

  • Not a lot of tests to go around
  • Webcam needed for some testing
  • Keep Earnings Expectations in Check

A Better Way to Earn Money Online

Userlytics falls into the same category as paid online surveys.  It is a neat little distraction and a way to earn a little bit of extra spending cash.

If you were able to find tests at a rate or 2 an hour it could be a full-time job.  But that is just not possible.

It is not easy and not a quick fix, but it is effective and the starter account is free.

The Wrap-Up

Can you earn money with Userlytics?

Absolutely.

The testing software is easy to use and understand.  Once you learn to think out loud, testing any website becomes second nature and you are able to give clear concise reviews in real-time while testing the websites.

The pay itself is actually pretty good.  10 dollars for an average of about 20 minutes of work is a great return on time invested.

The whole Userlytics experience is streamlined and modern at every level.  It is a great usability testing program.

The entire program is quite a bit of fun and always pretty interesting.  And you can earn a little money to boot.

As long as you temper your earnings expectations.

And that is where most people will get frustrated with Userlytics.  There are simply not enough tests to go around.

Testing once a week is a real possibility.  Some users complain that they have only been accepted for a couple of tests a month.

You simply cannot find enough tests to make this a sustainable source of income.

If you could I imagine the competition for testing slots would be that much more intense since this is a fun and interesting way to earn income from home.

Do I recommend Userlytics?

Yes, I do.

As long as you understand what it is.  A way to earn a little extra income each month.

And what it is not.  A way to earn a full-time income.

  1. Thanks. This is a really good rundown of the Userlytics system. I’ll definately give it a try. Might be an easy way to earn a little extra cash. Thanks for managing expectations with the frequency and real earning potential. It’s hard to find good, honest feedback these days. I appreciate your work.

    • Hey Paul,
Glad you enjoyed the article and hope it helped you out a little bit. A lot of times you’ll see people make claims like earn 30 dollars an hour, which would technically be true if you could find enough tests but its just not possible.

      Thanks for the comment.
